Out standing

Excellent food and superb service. Quaint and perfect for a quiet meal.

They must work for a competitor

Great food, great service, great location. I am a Santa Barbara local and Italian food is not hard to come by on the American Riviera. But a place this good is. This is my families favorite italian place in the downtown area. The food is of much higher quality than Pillazos across the street without the wait. I highly recommend it from the starters to the entree to the desert my favorite is the Chicken Piccatta. Somehow I don't think a chef would screw up his special of the night over and over while customers kept returning it..

A disappointing experience

As a connoisseur of fine dining, I have fairly high standards when it comes to food but I?m not impossible to please either. On 15-FEB-2008, I dined at Aldos on State St. for the first time because I noticed their nice ad in the hotel city guide. I ordered the veal special that came with prosciutto and some ravioli. I took one bite of the veal and instead of an explosion of taste all I got was an explosion of SALT and even more SALT. This was the saltiest meal I ever had in my life. I couldn?t taste anything other than SALT. What sort of inept chef would make such a dish?? The chefs and sous chefs should be fired in mass because they obviously belong in McDonalds, not in restaurant masquerading as fine dining. My spouse was with me and she too ordered the same dish and after one bite, she simply refused to eat the rest. My spouse demanded our money back which was honored however the attitude of the manager (or whoever it was) left a lot to be desired. He was trying to deny there was anything wrong with the food when an idiot could tell this food was not worthy of inmates. This will be the last time I dine at Aldos. I warn everyone to stay away from this place unless you enjoy food barely fit for vultures!!

poor excuse for Italian food

This place has a great location, which, in my opinion, is the only reason why it remains in business. The food is very mediocre, and a poor excuse for Italian food. Definitely overpiced, and the decor is pretty kitchy, too. Avoid at all cost, don't waste a meal here.
